Roy Cross
ASME Y14.5-2009 GDTP Senior Level Certified

roycrossSince 1980, Roy has been involved in product design applying GD&T with several tier one automotive suppliers as a designer, design leader, checker, and dimensional engineer. In these roles, he has worked with various CAD systems and utilized 1D, 2D, and 3D tolerance analysis to optimize product tolerances. He handled approval of gage design and build, and helped review and approve supplier gages, CMM fixtures, inspections methods, plans, reports, and GR&R studies.

Roy has extensive experience with many manufacturing processes, including injection molds, casting, forging, stamping, machining, wire EDM, and broaching. He has designed tools and dies, jigs and fixtures, and special machines.

Since 1991, in his role as an ETI dimensional engineer, he has taught more than 300 classes and mentored engineers, designers, and inspectors in most industries including aerospace, defense, medical, appliance, and power tools. His combined work experience and expert knowledge of ASME Y14.5, related ASME drawing standards, and ISO GPS standards gives him the unique ability to effectively teach all ETI classes with passion and conviction to a wide audience in many industries.

Dan Meyers
ASME Senior Level Certified

roycrossDan has more than 38 years of experience in mechanical design as a drafter, designer, checker, and dimensional management mentor. He has in-depth knowledge of the ASME Y14.5M-1994 and ISO 1101 Standards, and over 20 years of experience with VisVSA 3D tolerance analysis.

Dan served as chairman of the Delphi Dimensional Management Team from 1999-2007. He led in the development of a comprehensive GD&T training program for Delphi Automotive and trained designers & engineers in Fundamentals & Advanced GD&T and Tolerance Stacks Using GD&T.

Dan also spent 5 years in nuclear reactor internals design, analyzing assembly variation and updating/optimizing GD&T specifications. He built a 3-course GD&T training program for Westinghouse Electric and trained 86 engineers and designers.

Dan has taught ETI's GD&T workshops for more than 15 years. He also served as one of the technical proofreaders for The Fundamentals of GD&T textbook and the Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing workbook.

As a full-time Dimensional Engineering Mentor, Dan brings his expert knowledge of the ASME Y14.5 and ISO Standards to ETI's entire workshop portfolio.

Jim Beary

ASME Senior Level Certified

bearyJim Beary holds both ASME Senior GDTP (Y14.5) and PMI Project Management Professional (PMP) Certifications. He attained Toastmasters International Competent Communicator status to enhance his training and instruction while completing his Bachelorís degree at Southern Illinois University, Carbondale College of Engineering.

Jim has 20 yearsí experience in the design, engineering, and project management of high complexity functional gages, fixtures, and automated inspection and measurement systems. Additionally, he has conducted 2D and 3D component and assembly tolerance stack up analysis using both Excel-based tools and solid model analysis software. He has conducted training nationally in companies ranging from regional tool and die shops to global and fortune 500 companies in the automotive, medical, oilfield services, defense, aerospace, heavy equipment, appliance, fire protection, and furniture industries.

William Caldwell
ASME Senior Level Certified

caldwellWilliam Caldwell holds the ASME Senior GDTP (Y14.5) Certification Designation. He is an active community college mechanical engineering instructor with more than twenty years of part-time teaching experience. He is a retired automotive executive having served as the Dimensional Analysis Manager and Divisional Design Manager for a major US auto manufacturer until he retired from a 30-year career.

William holds a Master of Science degree in Manufacturing Technology from Eastern Michigan University and a Bachelorís of Science in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan. William has been a part-time instructor for Effective Training Inc. for more than twenty years.

Robert Charlton
ASQ Certified Quality Engineer

charltonBob Charlton has worked in Manufacturing Quality Assurance as a Quality Manager and Director for over twenty years. He holds a degree in Business Administration from Wayne State University and has a Journeyman's card as a Toolmaker.

Bob has been an adjunct faculty member at Macomb Community College since 1991. He teaches a variety of classes in Applied Technology subjects such as GD&T, SPC, Plastics Processing & Tooling, and Blueprint Reading.

Bob has used and interpreted GD&T his entire career in Quality Assurance, especially for concept and design checking fixtures for OEM automotive parts.

Brent Davis

ASME Senior Level Certified

davisBrent Davis is a Senior Design Engineer, GDT Representative for a major automotive company's Automatic Transmission Operations. He has over twenty years in automotive product design and automotive tooling design.

Brent is a support person on the ASME Y14.41 subcommittee and has a seat on the USCAR team that generates the addendum to the ASME Y14.5 Standard. He is also a member of his company's Engineering & CAD Drafting Standard Committee and helped define Y14.41 material before the standard was published. Brent has been an ETI instructor for over 10 years, teaching GD&T at all levels.

Charles (Don) Holder
ASME Senior Level Certified

holderDon Holder has over 33 years of Product Engineering experience at one of the world’s largest automobile corporations. His responsibilities have included detailing plus designing and checking automatic transmission component drawings. He has also held various leadership positions.

Dale MacPherson

ASME Senior Level Certified

macphersonDale MacPherson has over thirty years in automotive product design. He works for a major automotive company as a Senior Product Designer in Dimensional Engineering, providing GD&T consulting and training.

His work assignment also includes software testing and development for embedded GD&T tools. Areas of design experience include: manual transmission design, gear design, drive line component and system design and packaging, throttle control system and component design, shift control system and component design, clutch system and component design.

Dale is a member of his company's GD&T task team. He is also an Aircraft Special Interest Group tolerancing module Joint Application Development team member —an industry-wide team that directs software developers for embedded GD&T.

Dale is a registered university instructor for his company. He has an Associate's Degree in Tool Fixture and Die design, and a certificate in electro-mechanical engineering technology. He has been teaching courses in GD&T fundamentals, advanced concepts, and tolerance stacks since 1999. He has taught at major automotive suppliers in North America, Australia, and Asia.

Patrick J. McCuistion
ASME Senior Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing Professional
ADDA Mechanical Drafter

mccuistionDr. McCuistion has taught Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing, Dimensional Analysis, Gage and Fixture Design, and Dimensional Metrology to industry, military, and educational institutions since 1986. He currently accepts training and consulting assignments on those topics as well as Technical Writing.

As Chair of the national SkillsUSA Technical Drafting competition, he creates the yearly design and drafting problem with solutions and a written test and coordinates all competition details during the third week of June in Louisville, KY. Two contestants (one secondary student and one post-secondary student) from each state compete for prizes and recognition. The problem includes drawing and assembling 3D models of a product and creating dimensioned 2D views of those models based on national drawing standards.

Curt Pawloski

ASQ Certified Quality Engineer

pawloskiCurt Pawloski is a leading expert on GD&T, and he leverages many areas of expertise to provide an effective and engaging training experience. Since 1994, Curt has helped thousands of students improve their capabilities. Designers and engineers are able to create improved designs that meet standard requirements. Manufacturing, Quality, and Purchasing personnel are better able to interpret specifications to generate and analyze quality products.

Curtís career began as a young man in high school, where he successfully competed in several engineering drawing, design, and fabrication contests sponsored by the SAE and other local professional organizations. While working on his engineering degree, Curt completed an apprenticeship as a machinist, learning to fabricate and analyze products using classical machining and measurement techniques.

As a degreed engineer, Curt led the design development and testing of complex manufacturing equipment, sharing in three patents for unique mechanisms and composite materials. As a former technical manager who holds an MBA, he understands the connections between process, cost and quality.

Curt also trains and provides guidance in the correct use of DFMEAs, PFMEAs, DVP&R and APQP for SAE clients. In two instances, Curt helped large organizations avoid the imminent loss of quality certifications and important customers. Heís been a consultant and trainer on more than twenty quality tools, basic lean concepts, and lean implementation for all types of enterprises. Curt is also a skilled training developer, building objective-based programs that meet the technical skill needs of adult learners. His formal training in public speaking helps him to keep audiences interested and engaged while covering complex technical topics

Bert Siebold, Ph.D.
ASME Senior Level Certified GDTP-S

Bert is an active educator and professor at a leading Mid-Western University. He has more than 30 years in the field of engineering education and has trained thousands of students in the mechanical engineering disciplines.

Bert is ASME Senior Certified. His areas of specialization include Engineering Graphics and Design / CAD: ASME/ANSI Standards, design specification and documentation, and descriptive geometry. He has extensive experience in GD&T training, consulting, applied engineering design, print interpretation, gaging, and tolerance stacks. Bert has worked with numerous US-based companies to provide consultative services in the areas of manufacturing technology, quality assurance, and leadership development.

Carl Wargula

ASME Senior Level Certified GDTP GDTP S-0548

wargulaCarl has been involved with geometric dimensioning and tolerancing for more than forty years, first as a tool room machinist, then in quality assurance, and ultimately with engineering. He has been employed or contracted with firms ranging from aerospace, automotive, medical, and more. His background in GD&T encompasses part inspection to design and interpretation. His experience led him to employment with a contract engineering firm and community college work developing customized training programs for a variety of manufacturing firms and processes. He has the ability to make a complex topic understandable and relevant to the customerís needs.

Carl has been teaching GD&T since 1980 and has also taught other industrial topics. His industrial experience ranges from Powertrain to Aerospace industries. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from University of Wisconsin and is an ASME Senior Level Certified Professional. Carl has presented workshops throughout the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico, Colombia, and India. He is frequently called upon to assist in GD&T issues and questions. He has developed training materials and presented workshops in the following topics:
